2027 Internship - Interiors Engineering (Industrial Design)
As an intern with Textron, you'll gain hands-on experience while exploring your interests and building new skills. You'll be supported and challenged to contribute in meaningful ways – working on real projects alongside experienced professionals to prepare for future success.
This is an opportunity to be immersed in the culture of a leading general aviation manufacturer, home to two iconic brands:
Cessna and Beechcraft. In this role, you'll collaborate with and learn from our experienced Industrial Design staff. The open office layout encourages cross-disciplinary teamwork with design, mechanical, and electrical experts driving new product development. From small single-engine aircraft to super-midsized jets, the design projects span a wide range. Your primary focus will be interior development, where you'll integrate technology and human factors to enhance the cabin experience.
Job Responsibilities:
- At a minimum, fully understand and follow the project design brief and produce requested deliverables on time.
- Based on project scope, perform thorough research, ideation, concept generation, and design refinement.
- Support Human Factor mockups to inform design development.
- Ask questions, challenge the status quo, and bring a high level of enthusiasm and creativity.
- Be collaborative. Work through solutions with Engineering, Interior Design, and other technical groups and interns.
- Build engaging presentations that communicate your design journey and final solutions.
- There is much to learn in this 10-week experience – take advantage of as many intern events as possible and participate in facility tours at both east and west campuses.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Transportation Design, Product Design or other relative design discipline.
- Excellent visual communication skills.
- Experience with Adobe Suite products, CAD modeling and rendering software.
- Professional and diplomatic demeanor.
- Strong sense of accountability and integrity.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Time management skills to support multiple concurrent projects.
- Ability to deal with change and work in a dynamic environment.
- Proficient in use of standard Microsoft Office programs.
