Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics is seeking a Program Engineer to lead and coordinate engineering projects within our Engineering & Design department. In this role, you will manage technical project scope, schedules, and resources for avionics, instrument, and power system programs, ensuring compliance with aviation standards and customer requirements. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, drive continuous improvement, and support product lifecycle activities from concept through certification and production, contributing to safe, reliable, and innovative aviation solutions in a high precision, regulated environment.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary engineering program lead for new and existing avionics, instrument, and power system products.
- Translate customer, regulatory, and internal requirements into clear technical specifications and work packages.
- Develop, maintain, and track engineering project plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Coordinate cross-functional activities between engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain to meet program objectives.
- Support and review mechanical, electrical, software, and systems designs for compliance with requirements and standards.
- Define and support qualification, verification, and certification activities, including DO-160 and related aerospace standards.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including requirements, test plans, reports, and configuration records.
- Lead structured problem-solving, root cause analysis, and corrective action when product or program issues arise.
- Identify and manage program risks, issues, and changes, ensuring proper configuration control and traceability.
- Communicate program status, risks, and technical information to internal leadership, customers, and OEM partners.
- Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, documentation, and design practices to enhance quality and reliability.
Required Skills

- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and schematics
- Configuration management and change control
- Test planning, verification, and validation
- Root cause analysis and corrective action (8
- D, 5-Why, Fishbone, etc.)
- Familiarity with DO-160 and other aerospace/environmental standards
- Risk management and mitigation planning
- Technical documentation and report writing
- Proficiency with project planning tools (e.g., MS Project, similar)
- Proficiency with standard office and collaboration tools (Excel, Word, presentations)
