This role is at Spirit Aero Systems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units (“Spirit Commercial”). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing’s three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial’s core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.

The Repair Station Planner is responsible for ensuring that quality repair resolutions and work instructions are developed for operations. The planner requests parts to be ordered and coordinates with multiple areas to ensure workflow is not disrupted.

Position Responsibilities:

The Repair Station Planner will at a minimum perform and be responsible for the following:

  • Coordinates with the FAA-appointed Designated Engineering Representative (DER) for repairs outside of the manual repairs.
  • Coordinates with inspection, technicians, and management for repairs as well as to address any special customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Understands FAA regulations and repair station operational criteria.
  • Reviews documented defects to determine appropriate repair resolutions found within the AMM, CMM, SRM, SOPM or other data acceptable to or approved by the FAA.
  • Properly records repair resolution instructions within the repair station’s work order system.
  • Reviews and plans customer work packages using approved technical data.
  • Evaluates customer requirements, develops work instructions, and assures that all work packages include the customer-defined work scope.
  • Requests parts to be ordered through the repair station’s work order system.
  • Has experience with all tools and equipment used throughout the repair process.
  • Stays current on all company, customer, and regulatory training and certifications.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as directed or required.
  • Has the ability to apply process knowledge in several or all of the following areas:
    Composite non-metallic, Electrical/Electronics, Machining, Sheet metal, Systems and Structures.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 2+ years of experience in a Federal Aviation Authority Part 145 Repair Station
  • Experience developing build plans and work scope to facilitate repair and maintenance of aircraft components.
  • Experience with CMMs, SRMs, AMMs, IPCs, and basic tech data for maintaining and repairing aircraft components.
  • Experience with aviation manufacturing engineering.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree is desirable but not required.
  • Engineering degree from an ABET accredited program is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of at least 3, or preferably more, FAA Title 14 CFR Parts: 21, 39, 43, 65, 91, 121, 135, and 145.
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite, organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to review and understand purchase documents, customer requirement documents, blueprints, mechanical drawings, and technical data.
  • Experience with CATIA or similar aerospace industry software programs.
