• Underwrite Mortgage Loans
  • Underwrite mortgage loans according to the agencies, secondary market investor guidelines and Equity Bank underwriting guidelines ultimately balancing bank safety and soundness against loan production needs of the loan originators.
  • Well versed with guidelines for VA, FHA, RD and Conventional loans.
  • Reviews and calculates qualifying income for borrowers, including complex self-employed and personal and business tax returns.
  • Reviews credit reports to determine if borrowers meet investor, agency and Equity Bank credit worthiness requirements.
  • Reviews appraisals to determine if the collateral meets secondary market and portfolio requirements and supports the value given by the appraiser.
  • Loans are underwritten within established time frames.
  • Communicate results back to loan processors and/or loan originators.
  • Clear to close loans for final documents.
• Investor relations
  • Assist EVP/CCO in researching repurchase requests.
• Employee is responsible for understanding and following the applicable laws and regulations for their job responsibilities including but not limited to Equity Bank Business Ethics and Conduct Policy, Bank Secrecy Act, Information Security, and Suspicious Activity reporting requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.
• Must work on-site at Wichita headquarters location (not a remote/hybrid role).

• High School diploma required.
• 2-3 years of mortgage lending experience required.
• VA, SARR, FHA Chums/DE preferred.
• Experience with DU, LP and GUS underwriting systems preferred.
• Experience with Encompass LOS preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and professional manner.
• Computer skills, especially the ability to work in Windows based systems.
• Maintain a working understanding that complies with banking regulations, bank policies, and procedures.

This position requires standing, walking, bending, and squatting on a regular basis. May require the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch or reach with hands and arms. Requires the ability to carry, lift, move or push up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis. Must be able to talk and listen to others.

This position regularly works in an office setting. Most of the job duties require the employee to be working with computers and electronic media on a regular basis.
