Overview
We re seeking a motivated and member-focused professional to join our team as a Real Estate Loan Consultant in Wichita. In this role, you ll be responsible for originating real estate loans while guiding members through the borrowing process. You ll build strong referral relationships within the local real estate community—including builders, developers, and realtors—to drive loan opportunities and elevate the member experience.
The ideal candidate provides exceptional service, shares information about HCU products and services, supports mortgage personnel when needed, and actively promotes HCU s brand and culture in every interaction.
Monday-Friday 9am-5pm, some after hours events and Saturdays required. Office located at 3777 N Maize Rd in Wichita, KS.
Responsibilities- Guides members through the borrowing process. Interviews, takes applications, and processes preliminary documentation on loan requests. Discusses loan alternatives, credit criteria, interest rates, and loan documentation in a manner that elicits positive responses from members.
- Analyzes and evaluates loan requests and prepares written submissions for consideration.
- Maintains communication with the member throughout the loan process to answer questions, handle requests and resolve problems.
- Performs follow-up work as necessary to achieve conditional approval within established time frames.
- Builds trusted referral relationships with the real estate community to originate real estate loans.
- Informs members of HCU loan policies and services.
- Counsels members regarding money management and financial matters; counsels members whose loan requests were denied, explaining reasons and alternatives.
- Maintains and projects HCU s professional reputation; keeps members informed of HCU loan policies and services.
- Provides superior service to members and pro-actively supports and advances HCU s brand and culture.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- One to two years of related mortgage/real estate lending experience required.
- Understanding of the foundation of determining credit worthiness.
- Familiarity with title reports, insurance, and appraisals.
- Real estate background helpful.
- Strong interviewing skills.
- Excellent communication and public relations abilities.
- Strong analytical and financial skills.
- Sedentary work; stationary most of the time.
- Valid driver s license.
- Requires National Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS) registration under the SAFE Act of 2008. Will be subject to the required registration process, which includes fingerprinting and a criminal background screening. Fees are paid by Heartland Credit Union.
- Pass criminal background check, drug screen, credit check and past employment and education verification.
- Complete required screenings.
