Job Summary

The Behavior Technician (BT) is a key member of the clinical team, responsible for implementing individualized treatment plans for clients with autism and other developmental disorders, as part of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy. Under the supervision of a BCBA or Clinical Supervisor, the BT works directly with clients to support behavior change, skill acquisition, and progress toward treatment goals. This role requires compassion, patience, and the ability to apply behavioral techniques to help clients improve communication, social, academic, and daily living skills.

Duties
  • Provide direct care in 1:1 and group settings using intensive teaching and natural environment training with clients from ages 2–17 years old.
  • Follow and execute goals from each client's Individualized Treatment Plan (ITP) created by the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Autism Specialist (AS) assigned to each client.
  • Record accurate data on client progress, focusing on targeted goals and tracking maladaptive behaviors during therapy sessions.
  • Meet or exceed the required billable hours of 6.3 hours per day, ensuring all documentation is completed in a timely manner.
  • Complete billing notes in EMR systems (e.g., Motivity) and input hours worked into payroll system (e.g., Isolved) daily, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
  • Effectively communicate with parents and caregivers regarding client progress, in alignment with the treatment plan developed by the BCBA assigned to the client.
  • Collaborate with staff members and supervisors to discuss client needs, treatment strategies, and progress.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team, including clients, parents, caregivers, and other professionals.
  • Provide flexibility to cover other classrooms during non-billable time or in the event of client cancellations.
  • Ability to work occasional Saturdays for make-up sessions when necessary.
  • Adhere to HIPAA regulations to maintain client confidentiality. Use safe and appropriate handling and guidance procedures when working with clients.
  • Keep a clean, organized, and safe work environment to support effective therapy.
Requirements
  • Ability to use proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation to produce clear, accurate, and professional documentation for client records, progress notes, and treatment reports is required.
  • Ability to communicate in written, verbal, and nonverbal communication with other staff members to seek solutions and implement the most ideal plan required.
  • Ability to complete tasks given with deadlines set by your lead or supervisor with minimal supervision is required.
  • Ability to receive and acknowledge frequent feedback.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word/Excel and Google (Drive, Sheets, Docs) is preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and engage in active movement throughout the day (sitting, standing, walking, running, bending).
  • Ability to work with a variety of behaviors ranging in severity and presentation, such as biting, scratching, hitting, and/or screaming.
Education
  • A high school diploma or equivalent GED is required.
  • 1 year+ experience working with children is required.
  • Completion of a 40-Hour Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certification is required.
  • Actual RBT Certification not required
  • CPR/First Aid Training/Seizure Training required to be completed within your first two (2) weeks
  • Training provided on site
  • Experience using EMR systems such as Aloha and Motivity preferred.
  • 1000+ hours of experience working with children with Autism in the Applied Behavior Analysis Field is preferred.
