SummaryThe Ultrasound Technologist performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations and provides high-quality sonographic images and data for interpretation by a physician. In collaboration with the Lab and Radiology Manager, the Ultrasound Technologist ensures compliance with all federal grants, OSHA, HIPAA and Hunter Health Clinic policies and procedures.
Essential Functions- Performs a variety of diagnostic ultrasound examinations for patients including OB/GYN, abdominal, and other necessary studies, following established protocols.
- Positions patients properly to capture correct areas and adjust positioning as needed.
- Reviews images for technical quality, ensuring that anatomical, pathological and clinical conditions are accurately captured during the examination.
- Maintains accurate patient records and documents incidental findings that might impact patient safety or patient care, providing that information to the appropriate provider.
- Ensures ultrasound equipment remains in working order by reporting concerns or issues.
- Assists with maintaining inventory and the ordering of supplies for the department.
- Implements and maintains new testing procedures as instructed.
- Schedules exams for patients, as needed.
- Travels when necessary to meet operational needs.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
