Summary

The Ultrasound Technologist performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations and provides high-quality sonographic images and data for interpretation by a physician. In collaboration with the Lab and Radiology Manager, the Ultrasound Technologist ensures compliance with all federal grants, OSHA, HIPAA and Hunter Health Clinic policies and procedures.

Essential Functions
  • Performs a variety of diagnostic ultrasound examinations for patients including OB/GYN, abdominal, and other necessary studies, following established protocols.
  • Positions patients properly to capture correct areas and adjust positioning as needed.
  • Reviews images for technical quality, ensuring that anatomical, pathological and clinical conditions are accurately captured during the examination.
  • Maintains accurate patient records and documents incidental findings that might impact patient safety or patient care, providing that information to the appropriate provider.
  • Ensures ultrasound equipment remains in working order by reporting concerns or issues.
  • Assists with maintaining inventory and the ordering of supplies for the department.
  • Implements and maintains new testing procedures as instructed.
  • Schedules exams for patients, as needed.
  • Travels when necessary to meet operational needs.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
