Kansas Gastroenterology is growing, and looking for new team members! A New Patient Coordinator is the first contact that most patients will have with our office. This position is responsible for ensuring we have accurate demographic and insurance information, can create a new patient chart in the EMR system, and coordinate with the patient to get them scheduled with one of our providers.
Excellent customer service skills, and the ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail are qualities we look for. This is a full-time, office-based position.
Job Responsibilities:
- Schedules new patient consults via phone or faxed information
- Works directly with the patient and/or family to coordinate scheduled consults
- Interacts with the hospital and other facilities to coordinate consults
- Electronically enters information in the patient record and index incoming records in the appropriate place into the patient's charts
- Secures accurate and updated patient information
- Verifies patient billing and insurance information
- Verifies referral authorization from primary care provider is appropriate for appointment
- Reschedules patients according to cancellations of providers' schedule
- Answer calls and provide pertinent information as instructed
- Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned that may include sending/receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab/X-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.; completing forms/requisitions as needed; verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics
- Provides customer service while answering incoming calls
- Understands and adheres to HIPAA and Confidentiality policies
- Maintain professional appearance and conduct at all times
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians and coworkers
- Perform other duties as assigned
High School diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
Experience:Preferably three years of recent experience working in a medical facility
