Systems Engineer

You will serve as a Network Infrastructure Delivery Manager, overseeing the day‑to‑day execution of a major network modernization project. Your responsibilities include leading operational deployment of outside plant (OSP) and inside plant (ISP) fiber‑optic and copper cabling, managing field teams, ensuring subcontractor compliance with technical and security specifications, and partnering closely with the Project Manager to meet project deliverables on time, within scope, and securely.
Responsibilities- Operational Leadership & Execution: Lead and direct day‑to‑day field operations for the replacement of backbone and horizontal fiber‑optic and copper cabling across the campus.
- Subcontractor Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact for cabling subcontractors, conduct quality assurance inspections, and ensure installations meet industry standards, project drawings, and security compliance.
- Project Alignment: Work hand‑in‑hand with the Project Manager to sync daily operations with the master project schedule, provide accurate status updates, identify risks early, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Resource Scheduling: Coordinate the scheduling of personnel, equipment, and materials to prevent downtime and optimize deployment velocity.
- Technical Quality & Compliance: Ensure all work complies with BICSI standards, National Electrical Code (NEC), and specific military/government telecommunications formatting. Oversee testing and validation of all newly installed media, including fiber testing and copper certification, and maintain accurate redline drawings and as‑built documentation.
- Closet Modernization: Manage the remediation and modernization of communication closets, ensuring clean cable management, proper grounding, and appropriate labeling.
- Security & Classified Environment Management: Maintain absolute compliance with SOPs for working within secure facilities (e.g., SCIFs or classified spaces), enforce escort protocols and material control, and ensure infrastructure separation and containment pathways adhere to classified network isolation standards.
- Active Top Secret TS/SCI clearance required at the time of hire.
- 5–7 years of experience in network infrastructure deployment with at least 3 years in a supervisory or operations management role.
- Proven track record managing infrastructure projects inside secure, classified government or defense facilities.
- Deep technical understanding of fiber‑optic mechanics (single‑mode, multi‑mode, splicing, OTDR testing) and structured copper systems.
- Demonstrated success directing and holding third‑party cabling vendors accountable to strict Statements of Work (SOW).
- BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD)
- BICSI Inside Plant (ISP) or Outside Plant (OSP) Consultant / Technician
- Certified Fiber Optics Installer (FOI) or Technician (FOT)
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- ITIL Foundation
Estimated base pay range: $ to $ annually. Actual salary will be based on factors such as shift, location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs.
