Flint Hills Resources is looking for a PI Administrator to join our IT/OT capability at our Wichita, KS headquarters or Corpus Christi, TX refinery. FHR’s IT/OT capability is a key driver in our vision to integrate our manufacturing capability with next‑generation technologies both at the edge and in our cloud environments. This role will build close relationships with key plant teams, understand plant operational processes and business objectives, and participate in the engineering of technology solutions to address those objectives.

Team

As a PI Administrator you will create value for FHR by running and maintaining a collection of AVEVA PI software. This includes, but is not limited to, PI Data Archive collectives, PI Asset Framework Servers, PI AF Analysis Services, and the various data integrations both in and out of PI. You will be responsible for point creation, compression tuning, analysis performance enhancements, and related tasks.

You will work closely with sister IT/OT teams for monitoring and supporting infrastructure, while often collaborating directly with plant operations and project work.

What You Will Do
  • Day‑to‑day PI Administrator responsibilities across several PI environments – point creation, compression tuning, analysis equations, performance tuning, and PI Vision display edits.
  • Incident response – leveraging monitoring solutions, creating automation where appropriate, and participating in after‑hours on‑call rotation to respond to unplanned events.
  • Technical/Functional product ownership – act as the product owner for the PI system, maintain the roadmap, oversee lifecycle upgrades, and coordinate with vendor support.
  • Partner with plant operations and transformation teams to execute projects, evaluating functional requirements and alternative solutions.
  • Assist with technical design, architecture, and execution of solutions, leveraging knowledge across multiple IT disciplines.
  • Travel up to 25% to collaborate with plant teams on solutions integrations into work processes.
Basic Qualifications
  • Experience with manufacturing environments/real‑time systems.
  • Ability to travel often (up to 25%).
  • This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Advanced Qualifications
  • Experience with AVEVA PI System, Aspen IP21.
  • Experience with Emerson DeltaV, Inductive Automation Ignition, Honeywell products, LIMS systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Experience with high‑availability technologies such as Big‑IP F5, SQL Always On, PI HA, etc.
  • Experience with on‑premises application deployments on Windows and supporting network systems (firewalls, TCP fundamentals).
  • Experience automating alerting and response with tools like Tanium, Grafana, or Log Rhythm.
  • Experience managing IT/software initiatives and projects (leading status meetings, gathering and working through requirements, focusing on agile and iterative deliverables).
  • Experience with customer and third‑party facing interactions (backlog management, customer engagement activities, representing gaps in discussions).
