In this role, you will work alongside experienced data engineers and business partners to develop, maintain, and improve data solutions that enable operational excellence and business value creation. This internship provides hands‑on experience with modern data platforms, cloud technologies, data pipelines, and analytics tools while contributing to real‑world projects.

Data Engineering Internwho is passionate about coding, problem‑solving, and working closely with business stakeholders to turn data challenges into real‑world solutions. This internship is based in office in Wichita, KS and designed for students interested in gaining hands‑on experience in data engineering.

What You Will Do
  • Collaborate with Data Scientists, Data Architects, Analytics Engineers, and business stakeholders to understand problem statements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Clean, transform, and integrate data from various sources (structured and unstructured).
  • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues and optimize performance of data workflows.
  • Document data architecture, workflows, and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain data integrations, pipelines, and repositories using SQL, Python, dbt, and scripting languages
  • Dive into data details and perform analysis and synthesis to identify opportunities for process improvements
  • Take ownership of assigned projects and troubleshoot issues independently, escalating thoughtfully when necessary
  • Design and model data solutions using Kimball dimensional modeling principles aligned to business processes and reporting requirements.
  • Gain exposure to modern cloud‑based data platforms such as AWS and Snowflake
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives to gain exposure to Agile project management and team collaboration practices.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Currently enrolled in a degree program related to one of the following areas:
    Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Analytics or related technical field with at least one semester or term remaining after the internship
  • Familiarity with Python through coursework, projects, or internships.
  • Exp erience writing and troubleshooting SQL queries to extract and manipulate data from relational databases.
  • Curiosity and basic hands‑on experience experimenting with AI/ML tools or generative assistants (Copilot, LLMs, AI APIs) or a clear willingness to learn and apply such tools safely under guidance.
  • Eligible for full‑time employment by June 20208
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Initiative, natural curiosity, strong communication skills, and an aptitude for fast‑paced learning
  • Familiarity with analytics, visualization, or business intelligence tools
  • Knowledge of data warehousing, ETL/ELT concepts, or data modeling
  • Experience building AI-powered agents, copilots, or workflow automations using Power BI, Snowflake, or related AI-enabled platforms.
  • Willingness to learn and interest in us ing cloud platforms and big data technologies (AWS, Snowflake, Redshift, dbt, git, MS Fabric)
