Martin Pringle is a regional law firm with offices in Wichita, El Dorado and Overland Park, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri. Formed in Wichita in 1951, the firm has grown to more than 40 attorneys with expertise in a wide range of litigation and transactional practices.
The Wichita office of our regional law firm has an immediate opportunity for a litigation paralegal with at least two years of litigation experience. This position offers the opportunity for professional growth and experience. The successful candidate will work on litigation matters which may include commercial disputes, insurance defense, professional negligence defense, products liability, and other civil matters. Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities
- Draft correspondence, pleadings, motions, briefs, notices, subpoenas, affidavits, and contracts
- Research and analyze law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes
- Investigate facts and law related to client matter including public records and social media
- Direct communication with clients, witnesses and court or governmental officials
- Determine and track relevant deadlines
- Record time for substantive legal work to be billed to clients
- Manage incoming and outgoing discovery including drafting request and responses; document production, indexing and review; requesting records; preparing medical records and billing chronologies
- Assist in depositions, mediations, and trials
- Witness investigation and preparation
- Summarize depositions, interrogatories and testimony
Also a non-billable task. Paralegals should know how to do it in case of an emergency, but shouldn’t be handling it on a regular basis.
