LAUNCH is a leading aviation staffing company that is seeking a Buyer to join their repair station team in Wichita, Kansas. The person is responsible for ensuring the overall success of our procurement needs, primarily for IAB but will support all TEAMS locations.

The Buyer is responsible for procuring materials, parts, and services necessary to support aircraft maintenance operations at an FAA 145 Repair Station. This position ensures timely and cost-effective acquisition of required items while maintaining compliance with aviation regulations and internal procedures. This role is critical in ensuring successful procurement and just in time deliveries of parts and supplies. The MRO Buyer works closely with vendors, maintenance, stores, and planning personnel to meet operational demands.

ESSENTIAL

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Locate key suppliers and coordinate approval with customer, accounting and quality
  • Ensure all purchasing needs are fulfilled for aircraft in work and on schedule as required, including advance forecasting
  • Contract negotiations to ensure the most cost-efficient methods without compromising quality
  • Ensuring purchase terms and conditions are properly relayed to suppliers and that it is in accordance with quality standards
  • Monitor Vendor Performance and report out to drive efficiencies
  • Review freight cost monthly to minimize spend
  • Source, request quotes, and purchase aircraft parts, tooling, and consumables in support of maintenance and repair activities.
  • Issue and manage purchase orders in accordance with company policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Track open orders, follow up on delivery status, and expedite as necessary.
  • Coordinate part returns, repairs, and core exchanges with vendors.
  • Monitor inventory levels and initiate replenishment based on min/max thresholds and usage history.
  • Maintain vendor records and ensure proper documentation (8130, COC, etc.) is received with parts.
  • Collaborate with receiving and quality departments to resolve discrepancies and ensure traceability.
  • Support the planning and production teams by securing required material for scheduled work.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the ERP system (EmpoweMX/Busin).
  • Ensure all purchasing activities comply with FAA regulations and internal quality procedures.
  • Assist with audits, reporting, and administrative procurement functions as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Strong knowledge of aircraft parts, procurement practices, and supply chain operations in an aviation maintenance environment.

Familiarity with FAA 145 Repair Station requirements, including traceability and certification documentation.

MINIMUM EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Education:

    High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in business, supply chain, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience working in a similar role at a 145 Repair Station, MRO or in the Aerospace Industry
  • Proficient skills in aviation ERP system preferred – EmpowerMX, Business Central
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office & familiarity with Sharepoint
  • Valid Driver’s License and MVR within guidelines to qualify to drive company vehicles
  • Warehouse Environment – must be willing to work in non-climate controlled areas
  • Must be available for any shift, any days to support a 24/7 organization
