Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Position Summary
Duties will include but are not limited to the following; analyze, troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and electronic malfunctions on a wide variety of facility equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Diagnose and repair a wide variety of facility equipment. Mechanic must be able to troubleshoot aptitude to maximize equipment uptime.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance procedures on equipment and report findings regarding additional work and repairs to leadership.
- Coordinate and/or perform assigned work. Work with contractors and other maintenance personnel, if necessary, to ensure repairs are made properly and with minimum impact on operations.
- Maintain open communications with supervision and customer department personnel. Document all activities and departmental procedural requirements.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance procedures to ensure that equipment continues to run smoothly and efficiently, including inspecting drives, motors, and belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, and performing other maintenance actions, following checklists that include cleaning and lubricating shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
- Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools (hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches) to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
- Assemble, install and/or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, and equipment.
- Assist diagnosing and testing mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary and repair or replace defective equipment.
- Perform other duties as required.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read and write the English language.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Manufacturing environment may be exposed to noise levels, dust, grime and heat. Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
