Overview

This role is at Spirit Aero Systems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, at Spirit’s Defense Business Unit (“Spirit Defense”). Spirit Defense is an independent supplier to the defense and space marketplace. Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities:

  • Seal, fillet and fay, cap seal, brush coat, etc. for major assemblies, sub‑assemblies, precision bench and integral fuel cell.
  • Apply scotch cast, leveling compound, aerodynamic seal and pressure test, working from drawings, documents, process specifications, quality control requirements and established processes and procedures.
  • The Company will provide appropriate assistance in job training to enable employees to perform all necessary job functions including work with blueprints, changes, specifications, work orders, etc. sealing to quality requirements.
  • Complete required data gathering transactions to facilitate all sealer progression.
  • Perform any and all required pickup, rework, fabrication, change incorporation, functional testing or check during or after final seal and/or seal progression.
  • Use measuring instruments as required to accomplish work assignments.
  • Report and/or investigate job handicaps such as: errors, assembly procedures, tools, sequences, etc.
  • Support the continuous flow of product within the manufacturing process by training, coaching and assisting employees of all classification levels.
  • Document any discrepancies according to specification, process, and procedure.
  • Temporarily attach parts and or assemblies, install collars and other hardware not related to drilling or countersinking.
Level A
  • Includes Pressure / Vacuum Test
    - Perform visual and auditory leak checks in aircraft sections.
  • Employee must have the skill and knowledge to perform all of the general functions.
  • Including Aerodynamic seal # Major Assembly / Sub Assembly and Integral Fuel Cell
    - Apply sealing compounds to seal fuel cell and wing section components.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

  • An active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship) (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access.
  • Must be willing and able to work any shift.
  • All Candidates must pass the Work Keys Assessment () or provide verification that they have passed the Work Keys Assessment. Delay in completing your Work Keys Assessment will result in a delay in your start date. You may complete your assessment in advance of an interview.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Work with blueprints, changes, specifications, work orders, etc. sealing to quality requirements.
