Production Manager, Production QC/QA
The position is a supervisory role focused on leading production operations, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency across the manufacturing process.
Responsibilities- Perform daily inspections on the production floor to identify unsafe conditions and take immediate corrective action.
- Lead safety audits, champion ergonomic initiatives, and enforce adherence to HACCP and USDA regulations.
- Maintain product quality by enforcing Food Safety and Food Quality plans, training employees on safe operating procedures (including lock‑out/tag‑out), and ensuring tasks are performed according to product specifications.
- Track and analyze production yields, efficiencies, and variances; collaborate with Operations Managers and Supervisors to improve workflows and equipment use to minimize downtime and reduce costs.
- Direct and provide guidance to hourly production employees, ensuring alignment on safety, quality, and production goals.
- Lead monthly line meetings and walk the production floor daily.
- Analyze key product performance metrics; identify areas for improvement and suggest changes to enhance production efficiency, minimize costs, and maintain high standards of quality.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university in Business or a related field, or 2+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience acting as a lead, providing training, coaching, or mentoring to less experienced staff or managing a process or project.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to lead problem‑solving efforts for complex process issues with solid analytical and mathematical abilities.
- Skill in motivating, training, and coaching employees to achieve peak performance while fostering a positive, respectful, and team‑oriented work environment.
- Adaptability to fast‑paced, dynamic environments and willingness to work long hours, weekends, and varying conditions (heat and cold).
- Up to 5% travel required.
- Proficiency in SAP, internet tools, spreadsheets, Word, order processing, and inventory software.
- Experience in food processing, leadership, and manufacturing; knowledge of yields, plant efficiencies, and operations procedures.
- Bilingual language proficiency is a bonus.
The plant environment includes wet or humid conditions, extreme cold and heat, working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals. The noise level is usually moderate but can be loud in the production area. The role requires occasional lifting or moving up to 50 pounds.
