Summit Employment is seeking an experienced MIG welder for first shift for a Wichita manufacturing company.

Duties Include:

  • Plans details of work, gathers required tools and materials based on instruction and specifications provided for the job.
  • Repairs and fabricates various items from basic to complex using cutting, burning, and welding techniques and equipment.
  • Monitors the welding, burning, and fitting process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged by warping, distortion, expansion or shrinkage.
  • Prepares, assembles, and tack weld parts and surfaces to be welded.
  • Dismantles metal assemblies or cuts scrap metal, using thermal-cutting equipment such as flame-cutting torch or plasma-arc equipment.
  • Ability to determine appropriate welding procedures for alternating current, direct current, straight polarity or direct current reverse polarity.
  • Ability to use MIG, TIG, stick or other welding processes.
  • Ability to produce approved products on schedule according to quality standards and deal with constantly shifting priorities while utilizing materials without excess waste and meeting required standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned with efficiency. Assists other grades and supervisors as needed.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or minimum two years’ related experience and/or training including principles and techniques of welding; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of design techniques, principals, and tools necessary for the precise production using technical plans, drawings, models schematics and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of properties of various kind of metals.
  • Ability to enter and obtain information from a computer.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to do detailed and repetitive work with speed and accuracy.
  • Ability to work safely and properly use welding equipment and tools.
