Job SummaryPerforms the production processes required in bagging, to perform the plaster mold prep process and plaster mold equipment, and to operate the autoclave to produce quality parts.
Essential FunctionsThis position may perform one or all of the job duties within this classification:
Bagging, Plaster Mold and Autoclave. This position will be cross-trained to perform any or all of these responsibilities along with responsibilities from other departments.
- Applies the necessary release films, stripper cloths, bleeder cloths and bagging films as required per the
- production planning on parts from the Lay-up areas.
- Vacuum bags the parts in the adequate manner for autoclave or oven cure.
- Moves tools and parts into and out of Lay-up rooms.
- Helps load tools and parts into and out of autoclaves and ovens.
- Helps mold prep and lay-up personnel as required.
- Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety
- regulations.
- Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
- Maintains highest standards of quality and quantity.
- Records required information on planning.
- Bags any and all parts and tools in a minimal amount of time with a maximum amount of quality.
- Determines the proper bagging procedures from planning.
- Removes bagging, materials from parts.
- Removes parts from tools or mandrels.
- Cleans tools.
- Applies release agents in preparation for lay-up.
- Removes mandrels from mold and delivers them to mold prep area.
- Breaks the plaster out of the parts after the parts have been cured in the autoclave or oven.
- Checks bagged parts for leaks and bridges.
- Loads and unloads parts onto carts to and from autoclaves.
- Reads planning and determines proper cure procedures, curing parts as required.
- Records autoclave information planning and autoclave logs.
- Maintains bag leak checks during cure cycle.
- Establishes cure cycle programs per Bill of Materials and enters into autoclave controller as required.
- Monitors autoclave and related equipment.
- Assists in bagging as required.
- Ability to use and understand more simple and more complex measuring tools.
- Ability to interpret visual aids.
- Perform basic shop math. Ability to compute mix ratios for different plaster requirements.
- Read and write well enough to understand planning and to record required information into company
- systems.
- Ability to operate a forklift.
- Ability to use a PC to record required information, clock in and out of jobs, etc. Ability to train others on
- the use of the company systems.
- Ability to operate autoclave computer.
- Ability to use basic and more complex hand tools effectively.
- Ability to work well with others and in a team environment.
- Ability to receive instructions and retain the required information.
- Ability to receive constructive criticism.
- Ability to communicate well with others.
- Ability to train new employees and communicate instructions.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Four to five years of experience in a manufacturing operations environment is preferred.
