The Plating Technician is responsible for operating and maintaining electroplating equipment used to coat metal parts with protective or decorative finishes. This role ensures parts are processed according to production specifications, quality standards, and safety guidelines. The operator monitors chemical baths, controls plating times and electrical currents, and inspects finished components to ensure proper coating thickness and appearance.
The position also involves routine equipment maintenance, solution adjustments, and accurate documentation of production data. The ideal candidate demonstrates attention to detail, adherence to safety and environmental regulations, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities- Operate and monitor plating equipment (tanks, conveyors, racks).
- Adjust machine settings (voltage, chemicals) per process requirements.
- Inspect materials before and after plating for quality.
- Record production data and plating parameters.
- Mix and maintain chemical solutions per SOPs.
- Handle hazardous materials safely and per regulations.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and minor repairs.
- Follow safety protocols and wear required PPE.
- Collaborate with team to meet production goals.
- Maintain accurate documentation and assist in audits.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience with zinc electroplating or similar processes.
- Basic understanding of chemistry and plating principles.
- Ability to read SOPs, technical documents, and blueprints.
- Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
- Physically able to lift up to 40 lbs., stand, and perform manual tasks.
