This role is at Spirit Aero Systems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, at Spirit’s Defense Business Unit ("Spirit Defense"). Spirit Defense is an independent supplier to the defense and space marketplace. Through innovative engineering and rapid prototyping excellence, Spirit Defense provides the capabilities, technologies and support customers need to succeed in their missions.
Position Responsibilities:
- Seal, fillet and fay, cap seal, brush coat, etc. for major assemblies, sub-assemblies, precision bench and integral fuel cell. Apply scotch cast, leveling compound, aerodynamic seal and pressure test, working from drawings, documents, process specifications, quality control requirements and established processes and procedures.
- The Company will provide appropriate assistance in job training to enable employees to perform all necessary job functions including work with blueprints, changes, specifications, work orders, etc. sealing to quality requirements.
- Complete required data gathering transactions to facilitate all sealer progression.
- Perform any and all required pickup, rework, fabrication, change incorporation, functional testing or check during or after final seal and/or seal progression.
- Use measuring instruments as required to accomplish work assignments.
- Report and/or investigate job handicaps such as: errors, assembly procedures, tools, sequences, etc.
- Support the continuous flow of product within the manufacturing process by training, coaching and assisting employees of all classification levels.
- Document any discrepancies according to specification, process, and procedure.
- Temporarily attach parts and or assemblies, install collars and other hardware not related to drilling or countersinking.
Level B: will integral Fuel Cell Sealing - Apply sealing compounds to seal fuel cell and related wing section components. Additionally, the employee must have the skill and knowledge to perform one or more of the skills listed below, along with any lower level sealant level of major assembly or large structure sealing or aerodynamic sealing.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
- Candidates must be eligible to apply for, obtain, and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance, in addition to customer program clearance.
- Must be willing an able to work 1st and 2nd shifts
- Willing and able to work any shift, including alternative work weeks and some weekends
- Ability to work on concrete floors, uneven surfaces, and in confined spaces, as well as walk on open floor beams, climb on stairs/scaffolding, crawl/kneel in workstation, and lift/move parts and/or tools
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
