This job is in the Plant family (department), which includes positions responsible for performing the work of receiving, processing, storing, and distributing of metal. This includes specialized equipment operation and support functions that require a practical knowledge of the nature and operations of warehouse work with an emphasis on safety as well as the materials, facilities, and methods employed by the Reliance, Inc.

family of companies. The main responsibilities of this position are moving inventory or equipment, locating material, pulling material from racks, packaging by work orders or core shop knowledge, communicating with your fellow teammates, moving inventory or equipment for storage or processing, and helping maintain the upkeep of the warehouse.

Physical requirements include standing or sitting (stationary position), walking, using hand/fingers to handle or feel, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, talking/hearing, seeing, pushing or pulling, reaching, repetitive motion, and climbing (stairs/ladders) or balancing.

Function in the job involves heavy work - exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Job function includes completing basic, routine tasks with detailed instructions and/or core knowledge of shop flow, pulling and assembling orders based on reviewing work/shipping orders or other documentation, coordinating and executing material handling, performing quality control inspections, sorting and packaging parts as directed, tagging material for proper identification and completing all required documentation, completing work order paperwork/documentation, operating yard truck, forklift, and overhead crane for the purpose of loading and unloading trailers, spot checking on inventory, reporting any irregularities to supervisor for direction, adhering to/ensuring compliance with applicable safety and quality standards, maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly work area, and all other duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor.

Required skills include a valid driver's license, 0-5 years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, ability to show adequate manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multilimbed coordination, ability to read and comprehend written instructions as applied to work situations, ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, basic measurement skills, basic arithmetic skills, ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively, ability to make sound decisions based on a combination of factors including knowledge, experience, and judgment, ability to lift 100 pounds occasionally, 60 pounds repetitively, ability to stand for sustained periods of time, ability to push or pull 80 pounds of force, ability to go up and down off truck trailers repeatedly, subject to temperatures more than 100 degrees F and below 32 degrees F, ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, internal customers and/or vendors, ability to obtain a certificate to operate all required motorized material handling and rigging equipment, basic computer proficiency and working knowledge of software applications, warehousing and material handling experience, and high school diploma/GED.
