General Production Worker Job Description

The General Production Worker supports a high-volume manufacturing operation by performing hands-on tasks on the production floor and in the shipping yard. You will work primarily on your feet in a labor-intensive, non-climate-controlled environment, assisting with structured packing, basic assembly, and general production activities while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality.

Responsibilities
  • Assist on a structured packing line by layering product and securing it with metal rods using a hand-held tool.
  • Perform ktting of parts, ensuring all required components are accurately gathered and organized for production.
  • Carry out basic assembly tasks, including drilling, grinding, and material kit setups, according to work instructions and blueprints.
  • Read and interpret standard and metric tape measurements to support accurate cutting, positioning, and assembly of materials.
  • Support general production and manufacturing operations, including handling materials, staging products, and maintaining workflow on the line.
  • Work in and around the shipping yard and dock area, including outdoor tasks in varying weather conditions.
  • Follow all safety procedures, use required personal protective equipment, and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Monitor product quality during packing and assembly, and promptly report any defects, issues, or irregularities to supervision.
  • Collaborate with team members and other departments to meet production schedules and performance goals.
  • Work overtime as needed to support a near 24/7 operation and meet customer and production demands.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to read and use a standard and metric tape measure accurately.
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with hand tools and basic production equipment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and product quality in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 6 months of manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to bend, squat, and lift up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly.
  • Ability to stand and perform physical work for 10 to 12 hours per day in a non-climate-controlled environment.
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime as needed to support production demands.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Experience with kitting parts, drilling, grinding, and assembly tasks in a manufacturing or warehouse setting.
  • Familiarity with reading blueprints or basic technical drawings.
  • Comfort working in a labor-intensive role that requires consistent physical activity.
  • No licenses or certifications required for this position.
  • No medical certifications or clearances required for this position.

In this position, you will frequently work outside in the elements, particularly in and around the shipping yard and dock area.
