Bulk Technician Machine Operator Braiding

POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVE

The primary function of this position is the fabrication of bulk cable material for internal and external customers through operation of various machines and use of various hand tools.

• Perform all duties in accordance with Vermillion Quality Management System and Safety standards, using situation-appropriate tools and protective equipment
• Set-up, operate, and adjust machines as required to complete duties listed below
• Bulk Re-Spool – Spool product/wire to specified spools and clean shielded/jacketed material in preparation for next operation; prepare bulk product for inventory or final inspection
• Develop an understanding of the principles of spark testing and the operation of related test equipment
• Sleeving – Pull bulk material through sleeving or protective jacketing by using air nozzles and bullets to expand sleeving for application
• Tape – Install miscellaneous types/widths of tape by machine or by hand to meet specified requirements
• Develop an understanding of the principles of continuity and operation of related test equipment
• Learn the requirements to operate one (1) to three (3) machines (Wardwell braider, Butt braider, cabler, extruder, et cetera)
• Perform other duties as assigned

• High school diploma or GED required
• Ability to read and understand drawings and work orders
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to plan and manage multiple tasks
• General knowledge of machine operation
• This position requires the employee to have clear vision at 20 inches or less and clear vision at 20 feet or less (with or without the use of personal corrective eyewear)
• The position also requires color vision in order to identify and distinguish colors
• Ability to lift 30 pounds

• If a Bulk Technician 2 position becomes available, mastery of above duties must be consistently exhibited and an ability to operate three (3) machines is required
