Job Description

Job Summary:

The Postpartum RN provides specialized nursing care to new mothers and their infants in a busy postpartum unit. They ensure high-quality patient care, monitor patient status, and support maternal and neonatal health.

Responsibilities:

• Assess and monitor postpartum patients' physical and emotional well-being.
• Administer medications, treatments, and perform procedures such as POC glucose monitoring and breastfeeding support.
• Educate new mothers on postpartum care, infant care, and breastfeeding techniques.
• Respond promptly to patient needs and collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal outcomes.
• Document patient information accurately in Meditech EMR.
• Manage high-risk postpartum cases including hemorrhage and hypertension.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid RN license and have at least 1 year of recent acute care postpartum hospital experience.
• Be certified in BLS and NRP.
• Possess experience with high-risk postpartum and Level 2 nursery procedures.
• Demonstrate strong patient care skills and a positive attitude.
• Be adaptable to busy, high-acuity postpartum environments.
