The Colgate Bookstore, located in a historic three‑story building in the heart of Hamilton, is Central New York’s largest independent bookstore. It is owned and operated by Colgate University and is committed to providing exceptional, personalized service to all.

Job Summary

We are seeking to hire bookstore customer service associates to work in various departments, providing customer service on the sales floor or by phone, stocking merchandise, processing transactions through the register, receiving, returns, pulling textbook orders and other assigned areas.

Accountabilities
  • Work at the register and assist customers with general books, textbooks, gift wing, and general merchandise.
  • Perform daily operational tasks such as stocking, returns, and pulling textbook orders.
Requirements
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to have a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to learn Point of Sale (POS) and inventory systems.
  • Ability to work collegially with a diverse group of faculty, staff and students on a daily basis.

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time – up to 6 hours.
  • Ability to look at a screen for long periods of time – up to 6 hours.
  • Ability to climb stairs.
