This is entry-level seasonal or part-time public contact work with assignments in a wide variety of areas – Recreation Center, Athletics, Tennis Center, or Watson Park. Employees receive direct supervision. This is a limited part-time position. The day and hours for this position vary. Bargaining Unit:
No Union Representation. Posting may close at anytime.

Specific duties depend on actual work location and activities. Examples include serving customers at concession counter, receiving and disbursing cash, preparing and handling food, stocking concession products, performing basic equipment maintenance, supervising children, organizing and leading games and assisting with class instruction, officiating or keeping score for sports activities, performing basic custodial duties, setting up and taking down building furnishings and arrangements.

Completion of work assignments may require operation of a vehicle. These examples are not intended to be all-inclusive. Other job-related duties may be assigned as needed.

Knowledge of basic functions of arithmetic. Ability to count money and make change; and use a computer to access, interpret and record information. Ability to accept and respond to a steady volume of requests for information and/or service, both in person and over the telephone. Ability to lift and carry stacks of boxes or other loads weighing up to 25 pounds.

Ability to teach students who have a wide variety of experience and aptitude. Ability to communicate orally clearly and effectively. Able to maintain effective working relationships with associates, participants and the public. May require ability to acquire and maintain a valid Kansas Driver's License. An employee will not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.

Required Experience and Training:
Must be at least 16 years of age, or 18 years of age, dependent upon assignment. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need of a sponsorship. Preferred Experience and Training:
Some experience in a customer service or retail environment. Previous cash handling experience. Offers of employment are contingent upon passing a pre-employment physical, which includes drug screening, and upon satisfactory evaluation of a criminal record check. Starting pay for current City employees will be determined by City of Wichita policy or applicable bargaining unit agreement.
