Communication
- Ability to effectively communicate material, tool and personnel needs to supervisor
- Receive and follow instructions and communicate with co-workers, supervisors and subcontractors
- Understand commercial blueprints and project specifications
- Ability to do necessary takeoffs per the blueprints and project specifications
- Ensure materials and equipment are procured in a timely manner
- Monitor and ensure on-site safety compliance, cleanliness, and job site organization
- Adhere to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards
- Complete OSHA 10 Certification
- Understand and maintain Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) guidelines
- Understand and maintain Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM)
- Studies blueprints and project specifications to layout and determine dimensions and materials required
- Installs framing, drywall, doors and frames, acoustic ceilings, hardware, and cabinets, etc. using materials such as: wood, steel, metal, concrete, plastics, and composites of multiple materials
- Layout and install window frames, doors, door frames, door hardware, interior and exterior trim using required carpentry tools
- Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground levels
- Cut materials into specified measurements, using required carpentry tools
- Build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using required carpentry tools
- Remove damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repair or replace, using required carpentry tools
- Inspect ceiling or floor tile, wall coverings, siding, glass, or woodwork to detect broken or damaged structures
- Station necessary materials around jobsite as needed for workflow and ingress and egress
