Position Purpose
This role accelerates business value by ensuring Reddy Ice’s merchandisers are well‑maintained and functioning properly. It demonstrates our “True North” attributes: the voice of the customer, respect for the individual, no‑nonsense communication, use of facts, servant leadership, and a continuous improvement mindset in all aspects of leadership and daily interaction. The position focuses on leveraging lean principles and tools (VSM, Kaizen, A3, etc.)
to facilitate continuous process improvements and value creation for customers, employees, and shareholders.
Salary: $24‑$26/hr DOE.
Duties and Responsibilities- Conduct repairs and service calls on ice merchandisers.
- Complete installations, replacements, and removals of merchandisers at customer locations.
- Perform preventive maintenance and cleaning of merchandisers.
- Work at customer locations, Reddy Ice plants, distribution centers, and refurbishment centers.
- Attend company‑sponsored technician trainings as required and demonstrate a desire to learn additional trade skills.
- Ensure vehicle, tools, and equipment are in good working order; maintain spare parts inventory in vehicle and communicate needs for additional supplies.
- Drive a customer‑centric culture by engaging in respectful, consistent communication with customers and promoting outstanding service.
- Communicate SOP improvement opportunities to the Field Equipment Service Manager and contribute to peer discussions on equipment maintenance and cleanliness best practices via video conference, conference calls, and other technology.
- Display a professional and courteous attitude toward co‑workers, managers, and the general public at all times, operating company vehicles safely and reporting any accidents or injuries promptly.
- Assist co‑workers or managers with other duties as required and adhere to safety requirements and procedures.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by management as needed.
- Adhere to the Code of Business Ethics, maintaining honesty and integrity at all times.

- Read and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.

Education and Experience- EPA Type1 or Universal refrigeration certification (required).
- High school diploma, trade school certificate in refrigeration, or equivalent experience (required).
- Valid driver’s license (operator’s / ClassC) and acceptable MVR; use of company vehicle required.
- Past experience in refrigeration, HVAC, electrical trade, or a similar role involving repair/installation of refrigeration units is a plus.
- Maintain internal company testing requirements above 80% for all company Tech1 level training courses.
- Basic computer and handheld skills, with ability to follow reporting SOPs via handheld devices.
- Minimal travel with potential for overnight stays; weekend, night, and holiday work required.
- Frequent driving between retail stores and plant location.
- Ability to lift 60 pounds and use installation lift equipment.
- Ability to climb ladders and work with power tools.
- Overtime may be required.
- Work conducted in a fast‑paced, rapidly changing environment.
- Manage stress, build professional and collaborative relationships, and reason through complex business situations.
