Finish Carpenter
This role seeks a skilled finish carpenter to construct, install, and repair structures and fixtures made from wood and other materials in both commercial and residential settings. You will work with minimal supervision, use a variety of hand and power tools, and consistently follow health and safety regulations while delivering high-quality craftsmanship that meets building codes and project specifications.
Responsibilities- Read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to fully understand project requirements and specifications.
- Take accurate measurements and calculate the size and quantity of materials needed for each task.
- Cut, shape, and smooth lumber and other materials, such as fiberglass, according to precise measurements.
- Build and assemble window frames, doors, staircases, and structural framing using raw materials or pre-constructed components.
- Install structures and fixtures, including windows, molding, trim, and other finish carpentry elements.
- Inspect existing structures, frameworks, and fixtures, and repair or replace damaged components as needed.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to perform a wide range of carpentry tasks.
- Ensure all completed work meets quality standards, building regulations, and project specifications.
- Maintain a safe and clean worksite by removing debris and hazardous materials and organizing tools and materials.
- Collaborate with other construction professionals, such as architects, engineers, and tradespeople, to ensure project goals and timelines are met.
- Work efficiently and independently while managing time and resources to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Consistently follow all health and safety guidelines and site-specific safety protocols.
- Proven experience as a carpenter with a strong focus on finish carpentry.
- Hands-on experience working with a variety of carpentry materials in both commercial and residential construction.
- Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction.
- Proficiency in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools, including powered saws, hammers, rulers, tape measures, and other hand tools.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, drawings, and sketches.
- Strong ability to take accurate measurements and perform basic math calculations related to materials and layout.
- Capability to cut, shape, assemble, and install wood and other materials with precision and attention to detail.
- Willingness to follow safety guidelines and regulations at all times on the jobsite.
- Good physical condition and endurance to perform manual tasks, stand for extended periods, and work in various site conditions.
- Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision while maintaining high quality standards.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in both commercial construction and residential construction environments.
- Framing and structural carpentry in addition to finish carpentry.
- Comfort using a wide range of hand tools, power tools, and measurement devices in different jobsite conditions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues related to fit, finish, and structural alignment.
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with supervisors, tradespeople, and other construction professionals.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing clean, precise, and durable finishes.

WorkEnvironment
This role involves working on construction sites both indoors and outdoors, so you should be comfortable working in a variety of weather conditions and out in the elements will regularly use hand tools and power tools, as well as measurement equipment such as tape measures and rulers, in active construction environments. Work may take place in partially finished structures, occupied buildings, or open-air sites, requiring awareness of surroundings and adherence to all safety practices.
Dress will typically include practical workwear suitable for construction sites, along with appropriate safety gear as required by site regulations.
This is a Contract position based out of Wichita, KS.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $25.00/hr.
