Irrigation Technician

Distinguishing Features of WorkThis is irrigation work assisting in conducting general irrigation repairs, installation of irrigation equipment, stocking supplies in work truck and some grounds keeping duties. The days and hours for this position:
Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm Bargaining Unit:
Service Employee's International (SEIU) Employees within the department of division shall be given first consideration
- Conducting irrigation systems testing
- Install irrigation nozzles, valves, drains and pipe. Make repairs to irrigation systems
- Removes snow from walks
- May oversee seasonal employees in the absence of the supervisor
- Test, installs, and repairs backflow prevention devices
- Assist with prescribed burns

- Other related duties may be assigned as needed
- Some knowledge of the standard tools, equipment materials, methods and practices used in irrigation and grounds maintenance work
- Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions of the work
- Working knowledge of the irrigation systems and irrigation controllers
- Skills in the use of standard hand and power equipment used to perform irrigation tasks
- Ability to push and/or pull and operate standard irrigation equipment over rough terrain
- Ability to lift and carry up to 150 lbs. with the assistance of another person
- Ability to acquire and maintain a valid Kansas driver's license.
- Be able to secure a Class "A" CDL driver's license within six (6) months of hire. If you are a Canadian or Mexican citizen, you will be required to have or obtain a CDL from your home country.
- Be able to secure a City of Wichita Backflow Prevention Installer/Tester Technicians Certificate within six (6) months of hire
Required Experience and Training Six months of experience as a skilled worker in irrigation repair work. A valid driver's license. Ability to obtain a Class A Commercial driver's license is required within six (6) months of hire. If you are a Canadian or Mexican citizen, you will be required to have or obtain a CDL from your home country. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need of a sponsorship.
Preferred Experience and Training A valid Class A Commercial driver's license.
