Irrigation Tech 1 - P&R

This is irrigation work conducting general irrigation repairs, installation of irrigation equipment, stocking supplies in work truck and some grounds keeping duties. The days and hours for this position:
Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm Bargaining Unit:
Service Employee's International (SEIU) Employees within the department of division shall be given first consideration

Conducting irrigation systems testing.

Install irrigation nozzles, valves, drains and pipe.

Make repairs to irrigation systems.

Removes snow from walks.

Supervises lower-level part-time seasonal employees.

Tests, installs, and repairs backflow prevention devices.

Assist with prescribed burns.

These examples are not intended to be all-inclusive. Other related duties may be assigned as needed.

Knowledge of the standard tools, equipment materials, methods and practices used in irrigation and grounds maintenance work.

Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions of the work.

Working knowledge of the irrigation systems and irrigations controllers.

Skills in the use of standard hand and power equipment used perform irrigation tasks.

Ability to push and/or pull and operate standard irrigation equipment over rough terrains.

Ability to lift and carry up to 150 lbs. with the assistance of another person.

Be able to secure a Class "A" CDL driver's license within six months of hire.

Be able to secure a City of Wichita Backflow Prevention Installer/Tester Technicians Certificate within six months of hire.

Two years of experience as a skilled worker in irrigation repair work or applicable trade school training.

A valid driver's license.

Ability to obtain a Class A Commercial driver's license is required within six (6) months of hire. If you are a Canadian or Mexican citizen, you will be required to have or obtain a CDL from your home country.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need of a sponsorship.

A valid Class A Commercial driver's license.

Please note that this position is part of a random drug testing pool, and employees are subject to random drug testing in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. Offers of employment are contingent upon passing a pre-employment physical, which includes drug screening, and satisfactory evaluation of the results of a criminal record check.
