Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Network Technician to support the maintenance, operation, and integrity of network infrastructure and critical facility systems. Working under general supervision, the successful candidate will assist with routine maintenance, equipment installation, asset management, troubleshooting, and operational support activities while ensuring site security, safety, and readiness.

This role is ideal for candidates with 2-3 years of experience in telecommunications, networking, infrastructure maintenance, or a related technical field.

Key Responsibilities Site Operations & Facility Maintenance
  • Perform general site maintenance activities, including cleaning, organizing, and maintaining telecommunications facilities.
  • Remove and dispose of obsolete fiber infrastructure and related materials.
  • Manage, organize, and return surplus equipment and materials to designated warehouse locations.
  • Maintain onsite equipment designated for future deployment.
  • Ensure site security, safety, and cleanliness standards are consistently upheld.
  • Escort and monitor customers, vendors, and visitors within designated equipment areas.
  • Assist with the installation, provisioning, testing, and maintenance of telecommunications services ranging from DS0 through OC192.
  • Support the installation and testing of transmission and switching equipment.
  • Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance on network equipment and supporting infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot network equipment and replace faulty modules or components as required.
  • Monitor network performance and assist in identifying potential service issues.
  • Support network restoration activities during outages and service interruptions.
  • Receive, ship, track, and replenish equipment, tools, and consumable materials.
  • Maintain inventory records and coordinate equipment and material logistics.
  • Track spare parts inventory and coordinate repair or replacement of defective equipment.
  • Maintain tools, testing devices, and electronic systems, including:
  • Fiber optic transmission equipment
  • Lightwave multiplexing equipment
  • AC and DC power systems
  • Telecommunications test equipment
Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate installation and maintenance records.
  • Document troubleshooting activities within ticketing and incident management systems.
  • Provide regular status updates on assigned maintenance and project activities.
  • Learn and utilize company systems, software applications, and databases required to perform job duties effectively.
  • Assist with inspections and maintenance of critical facility infrastructure, including:
  • HVAC systems
  • High-voltage electrical systems
  • DC power plants
  • Telecommunications infrastructure
Required Qualifications Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in telecommunications, networking, facility maintenance, or a related technical field.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
Skills & Knowledge
  • Basic understanding of network installation, monitoring, maintenance, and repair.
  • Experience or familiarity with one or more of the following:
  • Transmission technologies (DS1, DS3, SONET)
  • Switching technologies (Circuit Switching, SS7)
  • TCP/IP networking, routers, and network protocols
  • Outside Plant (OSP) activities including fiber locating, OTDR testing, and fusion splicing
  • Familiarity with fiber optic cable locating, right-of-way documentation, and as-built drawings.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to quickly learn new software systems and databases.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3 years of experience in telecommunications, electronics, networking, or infrastructure maintenance.
  • Educational background in Electronics, Telecommunications, Networking, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience working with fiber optic infrastructure and telecommunications equipment.
