Crane Operator

Job Title

Responsible for operating a stationary or traveling crane to lift, move, position, and reposition loads. Depresses buttons, lifts levers, and ensures load is safely attached to crane before bringing it down. Under general supervision, performs safe and efficient duties necessary in the heavy construction industry. The incumbent will need to operate in a safe and efficient manner following all personal protective equipment (PPE) and process requirements.

This role is classified as safety sensitive.

Activities/tasks/scope include following instructions, working as a member of a team, working with all crews doing the necessary tasks to complete a job, working with hand tools and other equipment necessary to complete a task, ensuring and maintaining work quality, maintaining jobsite, preserving and maintaining work being done, as well as, completed work, following all company safety policies and practices, applying improved work procedures to ensure safety and efficiency of operations, performing other related duties as assigned, capable of working outdoors in adverse weather conditions, capable of working at 200 feet plus elevation, capable of working at depth up to 30 feet below ground level or floor, capacity for working where Fall Arresting type personal protective equipment is required, capable of work on two-point (window washer) suspended scaffold, capable of working on interior multi-point suspended scaffold.

Certification/other skills and abilities include operating crane under general supervision, manipulating or depressing crane controls to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement according to written, verbal, or signal instructions, repairing crane as needed, inspecting crane for safety issues on a daily basis, determining if any parts are malfunctioning, completing job tickets, service quality summaries, and all other necessary paperwork, lifting, positioning and placing machinery, equipment or other large objects at construction sites and industrial facilities, driving trucks to worksites and unloading trucks, placing blocks and outriggers to prevent capsizing when lifting heavy loads, moving levers and pedals to rotate crane on chassis to raise and lower crane boom and to raise and lower load-line, bolting boom sections together to extend or modify boom for pile driving or high lifting, working with in precise limits and standards of accuracy, operating crane according to signals from helper, and starting and stopping crane engine.

Physical demands include ability to handle a large volume of work and perform multiple tasks in a fast paced environment, ability to effectively verbally communicate, ability to stand, sit, stoop, bend, walk and lift heavy objects (50 lbs).

Work environment includes work performed in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements.

Travel required:

Yes. Must be able to travel from jobsite to jobsite.

Licenses & certifications:
