Diesel Mechanic
The Diesel Mechanic ensures maximum fleet reliability, safety, and uptime for Metro Xpress by performing high-quality preventive maintenance, detailed inspections, and comprehensive mechanical repairs across our regional fleet of semi-trucks and trailers.
Routine & Preventive Maintenance:
Perform complete PM services, including oil changes, fluid flushes, filter replacements, chassis lubrication, and APU (Auxiliary Power Unit) servicing.
Diagnostics & Repair:
Troubleshoot and repair diesel engine components, electrical systems, air brakes, suspensions, steering, and hydraulic systems.
Compliance & Safety Inspections:
Conduct thorough DOT annual inspections, ensure full FMCSA compliance, and document all safety checks accurately.
Work Order & Documentation Management:
Maintain precise service records, log parts usage, and complete digital work orders in a timely manner.
Shop Operations:
Keep the working environment clean, organized, and compliant with OSHA and environmental standards; collaborate with the Shop Manager to prioritize urgent fleet repairs. Other Duties as Assigned
Minimum of 2–3 years of hands-on experience in commercial diesel engine and trailer repair.
High school diploma or equivalent; vocational degree or technical certification in Diesel Technology preferred.
Valid Driver's License (CDL Class A or B is a strong plus).
ASE Diesel Certifications and DOT Inspector Certification preferred.
