Description

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving manufacturing equipment, production machinery, facility systems, and support equipment throughout XLT Ovens.

This position plays an important role in keeping the facility safe, operational, and productive by performing preventive maintenance, responding to equipment failures, identifying the root cause of mechanical and electrical issues, and completing repairs in a timely manner.

The Maintenance Technician is expected to work safely, protect company equipment and facilities, maintain accurate maintenance records, and continuously look for opportunities to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.

Regular, reliable, and physical on-site attendance is required.

Essential Functions

This position will perform the below listed duties consistently, accurately, timely, safely, and at the lowest feasible cost:

  • Perform preventive and scheduled maintenance on manufacturing equipment, production equipment, facility systems, and support equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and other equipment problems to determine the cause of failures and appropriate corrective action.
  • Repair or replace defective equipment components using appropriate hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and maintenance procedures.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and work to restore equipment to safe operating conditions while minimizing production downtime.
  • Inspect machinery and equipment for signs of wear, damage, malfunction, or unsafe operating conditions.
  • Perform facility maintenance and repairs, including basic plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, carpentry, and other building-related maintenance as needed.
  • Install, assemble, align, adjust, and assist with placing new or relocated equipment into service.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, engineering drawings, schematics, blueprints, parts diagrams, and other technical documentation when diagnosing or repairing equipment.
  • Follow all Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and applicable safety requirements when servicing or repairing equipment.
  • Coordinate with the Infrastructure Resources Supervisor and appropriate department leaders regarding equipment failures, safety concerns, repair needs, and maintenance priorities.
  • Maintain accurate records of preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections, equipment history, parts, manuals, and other required maintenance documentation.
  • Identify recurring equipment problems and recommend corrective actions or improvements to increase reliability, safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Maintain maintenance work areas, tools, parts, and equipment according to XLT's housekeeping and 5S expectations.
  • Assist with maintaining appropriate replacement parts and maintenance supplies needed to support equipment and facility operations.
  • Report equipment or process nonconformances and assist in resolving issues through the appropriate NCR process.
  • Support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of XLT's Quality Management System as it applies to areas under this position's control.
  • Perform other maintenance, facility, and operational duties as assigned.
Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of three (3) years of industrial maintenance, manufacturing maintenance, or comparable hands-on maintenance experience preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial environment strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical equipment.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance on industrial or production equipment.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems logically and systematically.
  • Working knowledge of industrial machinery and production equipment.
  • Ability to safely use common hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Basic understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
