Electrical Technician
- Sewer T

Keep Wichita's wastewater treatment operations running safely and reliably as an Electrical Technician supporting the City's Sewer Treatment Division. This skilled position plays a critical role in maintaining the electrical and control systems that power essential wastewater treatment processes and protect the community's infrastructure. Work includes installing, inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining 120- and 480-volt electrical systems, PLCs, VFDs, control panels, motors, process equipment, electrical distribution systems, and instrumentation.

The Electrical Technician diagnoses equipment problems, performs preventive maintenance, reads electrical drawings, and supports electrical installation and improvement projects. The position may also work with Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems and 4-20 mA control circuits and may provide direction to lower-level technical employees. Work requires sound electrical judgment, strong troubleshooting skills, attention to safety, and the ability to respond effectively to equipment issues in an operational wastewater treatment environment.

- Monday
- Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm With after-hour and weekend standby duty

High school diploma or GED.

Two (2) years of experience or formal training in an industrial setting involving the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, or repair of 480-volt electrical or electronic systems and equipment.

A valid driver's license.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need of a sponsorship.

Graduation from an electrical or electronic trade school.

Associate's degree in electrical technology or Electronic Technology.

Completion of a three (3) to five (5) year Electrician Apprentice program.

Journeyman Electrician certificate.

Starting pay for current City employees will be determined by City of Wichita policy or applicable bargaining unit agreement.

Offers of employment are contingent upon passing a pre-employment physical, which includes drug screening, and upon satisfactory evaluation of the results of a criminal record check.
