Crewperson 6 - Building Finishes

Crewperson 6 - Building Finishes is directly responsible to the Supervisor. This position leads crew persons, assigns work, plans with building principals, and coordinates with other supervisors. The position maintains, repairs, and enhances interior and exterior finishes of district facilities, with a primary emphasis on painting and surface finishing. Responsibilities include surface preparation, application of coatings, drywall and plaster repair, flooring finishes, ceiling repairs, door and hardware installation, and other general building maintenance activities.

The employee is expected to demonstrate exceptional craftsmanship, initiative, dependability, and the ability to perform quality work with minimal supervision.

• In order for schools to operate effectively, employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leave.
• Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employee’s supervisor or building administrator.
• All employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of USD 259 and is appropriate for their position.

Assist with additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor, including mandatory snow removal.

The employee must demonstrate proficiency in the use of painting and building maintenance equipment, including paint brushes, rollers, scrapers, airless paint sprayers, pressure washers, surface-preparation equipment, floor buffers, floor strippers, line-marking equipment, hand tools, power tools common to the building trades, table saws, band saws, belt sanders, tile saws, brick saws, mixers, ladders, scaffolding, genie lifts, fall-protection equipment, measuring, layout, and leveling devices.

This position may require the use of iPads, computers, copiers, scanners, fax machines, and other standard office equipment. Employees must comply with all USD 259 equipment-use guidelines and safety requirements.

Travel between schools and central offices will be required.
