SUMMARY DESCRIPTIONThe Workforce Professional (WP) is responsible for assisting Workforce Center customers—specifically veterans—in identifying the most appropriate tools and resources available within the local workforce development system to meet their employment-related needs. The WP conducts outreach to enroll unhoused and at‑risk of homelessness veterans into eligible services to support job placement and reduce the risk of homelessness. The WP coordinates business services with the Business Services Team and develops individualized plans of action that lead to completion of education or training activities and the attainment and retention of employment.
The WP works collaboratively with partner agencies operating in Workforce Alliance Workforce Centers to ensure a seamless and integrated service delivery model. This position will be working in the correctional community and will involve frequent travel within Sedgwick County with occasional travel to other parts of the state.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESA Workforce Professional on the Case Management Training Team will provide job seeker services as outlined below.
- Provide job seekers with a professional, warm, and welcoming environment.
- Conduct outreach to identify and serve potential HVRP participants.
- Collaborate with community partners for outreach and referrals.
- Assist other Workforce Center teams during high‑volume activities, including check‑in, workshops, job fairs, and drop‑in customer flow.
- Assess job seekers’ skills and abilities and provide career guidance.
- Provide labor market information and counsel job seekers on in‑demand occupations.
- Assist job seekers with program registrations.
- Determine and document program eligibility.
- Assist job seekers with resume development.
- Refer job seekers to appropriate job openings.
- Enroll or refer job seekers to services available at the Workforce Centers.
- Provide referrals to partner agencies and community resources.
- Coordinate with Workforce Center teams to support job seeker success.
- Enter services, case notes, and outcomes into Kansas Works, VGRS, Alliance Database, Wait While, and other tracking systems as instructed.
- Maintain weekly contact with job seekers assigned to caseload.
- Develop and maintain an Individual Employment Plan (IEP) for each assigned job seeker.
- Complete and submit training documentation for approval.
- Assist job seekers in accessing supportive services to remove barriers to employment and training.
- Coordinate with Fiscal to process training payments (Occupational Skills Training, On‑the‑Job Training, Incumbent Worker Training) and supportive service invoices.
