Veteran's Treatment Court Coordinator
The Veterans Treatment Court Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and administering the Veterans Treatment Court program. The coordinator ensures effective collaboration among judicial officers, treatment providers, veteran mentors, probation officers, attorneys, veterans' agencies, and community partners to support veterans involved in the criminal justice system. The position monitors participant progress, maintains program compliance, manages data collection and reporting, supports grant-related documentation, and assists in achieving program goals and outcomes.
The Coordinator may also provide planning, coordination, and development support for other specialty court initiatives within the judicial district as assigned and as consistent with applicable funding requirements. This position is currently 50% grant funded. Continuation of the position beyond the current funding period is contingent upon grant approval, availability of funds, and continued authorization.
Program Administration
- Coordinate daily operations of the Veterans Treatment Court program.
- Facilitate participant intake, screening, eligibility verification, and orientation.
- Develop and maintain program policies, procedures, forms, and participant handbooks.
- Schedule court sessions, staffing meetings, mentor meetings, and team training sessions.
- Monitor participant compliance with court-ordered requirements and treatment plans.
- Support maintaining fidelity to applicable standards, best practices, grant requirements, and program goals.
Case Coordination
- Serve as liaison among court personnel, treatment providers, veterans' agencies, probation departments, prosecutors, defense counsel, law enforcement, case management entities, and community organizations.
- Track participant progress and provide updates to the Veterans Treatment Court team.
- Coordinate communication among team members to support participant accountability, treatment engagement, recovery support, and public safety.
- Assist with referrals, case staffing preparation, program phase tracking, incentives, sanctions, responses to behavior, and graduation planning.
Veteran Services and Community Partnerships
- Develop and maintain relationships with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, veteran service organizations, treatment providers, peer support providers, and local community agencies.
- Coordinate volunteer veteran mentor programs, including recruitment, training, and supervision.
- Promote community awareness and support for Veterans Treatment Court initiatives.
- Identify service gaps and assist the team in connecting veteran participants with appropriate behavioral health, housing, employment, transportation, benefits, and recovery support resources.
Program Development and Support
- As assigned, assist with planning and development activities for other specialty court initiatives within the judicial district, including a potential Family Treatment Court.
- Support district-level specialty court planning through meeting coordination, resource identification, stakeholder communication, policy development, and implementation support.
- Assist with gathering information, researching best practices, and developing draft materials for emerging specialty court programs.
- Coordinate with state specialty court staff and local partners to support alignment with applicable specialty court standards, evidence-based practices, and implementation expectations.
- Ensure that duties related to non-Veterans Treatment Court initiatives are performed consistently with applicable funding requirements, grant restrictions, and approved time allocation.
Data Management and Reporting
- Maintain accurate participant records and case management data.
- Collect, analyze, and report program performance measures and outcomes.
- Support grant reporting, fiscal documentation, and performance reporting related to the Veterans Treatment Court program.
- Maintain appropriate time, effort, and activity documentation for grant-funded duties
- Ensure compliance with confidentiality laws and data security requirements.
Training and Quality Improvement
- Coordinate training opportunities for court team members and mentors.
- Monitor adherence to Veterans Treatment Court best practices and standards.
- Participate in program evaluation and continuous quality improvement activities.
- Research and implement evidence-based practices.
- Support ongoing program improvement through data review, policy updates, team feedback, and technical assistance.
Required
Education and Experience:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, Social Work, Psychology, Public Administration, Human Services, or a related field.
Experience
- Three to five years of experience in criminal justice, behavioral health, veteran services, case management, court administration, grant-funded programs, or related fields.
- Experience working with veterans or military populations preferred.
