ASSYST is seeking a highly skilled Test Automation Engineer (SDET) with strong experience in UI and API automation, along with Section 508 accessibility testing in Washington D.C. (Remote role)
The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust automation frameworks while ensuring high-quality, accessible applications.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain test automation frameworks from the ground up or enhance existing frameworks.
- Develop and execute automated test scripts for:
Web UI applications, RESTful APIs. - Perform accessibility testing (Section 508 / WCAG) using both automated tools and manual techniques.
- Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Azure Dev Ops, etc.).
- Collaborate with developers, product owners, and QA team members in an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Analyze test results, identify defects, and ensure proper defect tracking and resolution.
- Support regression, integration, and system testing efforts.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes and best practices.
Skills & Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in software testing with a strong focus on test automation.
- Strong programming experience in Java.
- REST Assured / Postman (API automation).
- TestNG / JUnit / Cucumber (BDD).
- Object‑Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts.
- Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Git Hub Actions, or Azure Dev Ops).
- Proficiency with Git for version control.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Hands‑on experience with Section 508 / WCAG compliance testing.
- Axe, WAVE, ARC Toolkit.
- Keyboard navigation testing.
- Screen reader testing (JAWS/NVDA preferred).
- Understanding of accessibility standards and remediation validation.
- Experience with Playwright or Cypress.
- Knowledge of performance testing tools (JMeter, k6, etc.).
- Experience in data migration testing.
- Familiarity with AI‑assisted testing tools.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to work independently and proactively.
- Experience mentoring junior team members.
