The Dispatcher coordinates deliveries and pickups to ensure timely, efficient service and alignment with customer priorities. This role works closely with internal teams to schedule company vehicles, manage routing and documentation, and select carriers based on cost and demand. Serving as the primary point of contact for drivers, customers, and stakeholders, the Dispatcher helps drive operational efficiency and exceptional service through clear communication and effective coordination.
Responsibilities- Coordinates scheduling for inbound, outbound, and relocation activities involving company assets.
- Confirms and communicates customer requirements to internal and external stakeholders.
- Enters and updates shipment details in the system, ensuring accurate asset tracking and inventory returns.
- Maintains reporting metrics and uses the Transportation Management System (TMS) to monitor shipments.
- Prepares and uploads Bills of Lading (BOL) in compliance with documentation standards.
- Communicates proactively with drivers and partners to provide updates and minimize service disruptions.
- Collaborates with third-party logistics providers and contributes to a team-focused, solution-oriented environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and accurate data input skills.
- Ability to read and interpret maps for routing and navigation.
- Strong multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic work environment.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Highly detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and consistency.
- 3+ years of experience in transportation dispatch or a similar logistics coordination role.
- Knowledgeable about DOT regulations, including hours-of-service rules and compliance.
- Familiarity with oversize load requirements and state-specific transportation regulations.
