Overview
Job Description: The American Red Cross seeks a team member to operate a vehicle for the delivery and transport of blood products and materials, following an assigned route or on an as-needed basis. This role supports Blood Services and provides customer-focused service while adhering to safety and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Operate vehicle for the delivery of blood products and materials safely and within traffic laws.
- Prepare for deliveries by verifying orders, loading vehicles, and maintaining route supply inventory to ensure prompt delivery.
- Document temporary storage and transportation of blood, blood products, and materials as required by internal and external regulatory requirements.
- Provide customer service by giving basic information and interacting in a positive, proactive manner with employees.
- Maintain excellent vehicle conditions by keeping the vehicle clean and checking fluid and gas levels.
- Provide shipping and receiving support as directed.
- High School or equivalent required.
- Valid driver’s license and clean DMV record required.
- Previous experience with a messenger service or trucking company preferred.
- Ability to drive for long periods of time.
Physical demands: Regularly use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. Frequently lift and/or move objects 10-50 lbs unassisted. Frequently push carts up to 100 pounds. Stand for long periods; walk, stoop, kneel or crouch. Occasional sitting, climbing or balancing. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Ability to work in temperatures typical of a blood bank environment. Operational flexibility required to meet sudden needs.
Standard
Schedule:
Tuesday–Thursday evenings, 8:00 PM to approximately 3:00 AM (end time varies by route).
Pay: $17 per hour.
