KBX Logistics is looking for a Field Service Specialist - Railcar to join our Asset Services team! This role will be responsible for managing a variety of requests of railcar inspections, railcar contract shop audits, on‑hand training, etc. The Field Services Manager will work with various partners from several departments including outside vendors, carriers, and customers.

We work with leasing companies, repair vendors, and component suppliers to provide the right asset at the right time for the right cost. Whether it’s procurement, maintaining, or disposal, KBX asset services has the subject matter expertise to create superior value for our customers.

What

You Will Do
  • Perform thorough inspection of railcars and railcar components to identify areas of risk and opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Maintain current knowledge of government and industry requirements (Federal Railroad Administration & The Association of American Railroads), customer specifications, and company policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Inspect and ensure workmanship meets government, industry, customer, and company quality requirements.
  • Perform AAR billing audits per KBX standards.
  • Conduct onsite training such as inspections for all types of freight cars and tank cars.
  • Perform other field services activities as required.
  • Ability to travel 80‑100%. Air travel expected and overnight stays as needed.
  • Valid driver license required.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Experience in rail car manufacturing and/or maintenance repair facilities.
  • Experience with freight cars and tank car repairs.
  • Experience working with customer specifications and requirements.
  • Experience communicating concepts to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Experience using cameras, measuring devices such as AAR field manual rule 1 gauges, UTT devices and DFT gages.
  • Experience applying AAR and FRA requirements as well as referencing rules, repair procedures, coating requirements per customer, and AAR/FRA requirements.
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Experience conducting railcar inspections and billing audits.
