Position: Driver CDL 1

CDL Class A Driver

Central Plains Steel, a division of Feralloy, is seeking a reliable CDL Class A Driver to safely deliver materials and support transportation operations.

Physical Requirements:

Stand or Sit (Stationary position), Walk (Move, Traverse), Climb (stairs/ladders) or balance (Ascend/Descend, Work atop, Traverse), Use hand/fingers to handle or feel (Operate, Activate, Use, Prepare, Inspect, Place, Detect, Position), Stoop, kneel, crouch, or Crawl (Position self (to), Move), Talk/hear (Communicate, Detect, Converse with, Discern, Convey, Express oneself, Exchange information), See (Detect, Determine, Perceive, Identify, Recognize, Judge, Observe, Inspect, Estimate, Assess), Pushing or Pulling

Function in the Job:

Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Job Function
  • Safely operate Class A commercial vehicles to deliver materials to customers
  • Load, unload, and secure cargo (including tarping when needed)
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections (DVIR) and maintain compliance with FMCSA regulations
  • Use electronic logging devices (ELD) to track hours and activity
  • Review bills of lading and ensure accurate delivery documentation
  • Maintain safe driving practices and report any issues or incidents
Required Skills
  • Valid CDL Class A license
  • 2–5 years of driving experience (2+ years preferred)
  • Ability to meet FMCSA, DOT, and company safety requirements
  • Clean driving record and ability to pass road test and drug screening
  • Ability to lift, load/unload materials, and work in varying conditions
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety

Schedule:

Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM start

Pay: $23–$25/hr (DOE)

Preferred:

  • Experience hauling steel or similar materials
  • High School Diploma or GED
