The Export Shipping Clerk is responsible for the shipment of goods produced, received goods, and supplies. As an integral member of our logistics and supply chain team, this role plays a crucial role in facilitating international trade and ensuring that our outbound shipments reach their global destinations efficiently and compliantly. They act as the bridge between warehouse staff, freight forwarders, and customs authorities to get products across borders securely and on time.
Responsibilitiesand Duties
- Prepare shipping paperwork for both domestic & export orders.
- Prepare and process export documentation, including customs declarations and shipping instructions.
- Coordinate with shipping companies and freight forwarders to arrange the transportation of goods.
- Ensure compliance with export regulations and laws in various jurisdictions.
- Monitor and track shipments to ensure timely delivery to customers.
- Communicate with customs authorities to resolve any clearance issues.
- Maintain records of all export transactions and prepare reports as needed.
- Prepare items for shipments according to customer specifications and delivery dates.
- Pull and stage material according to the bill-of-lading.
- Use precision when operating tools such as tape measures and micrometers.
- Obtain proof of identity from carriers and appropriate signatures on bill-of-lading.
- Drive a forklift through the plant to move material and skids to designated areas.
- Adhere to Sunshine Metals’ safety rules, regulations, and quality standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One or more years of experience in warehouse shipping and receiving.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and data entry systems.
- Good written, oral communication skills, organizational, problem solving, and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to measure using different tools, read and calculate data.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with Fed Ex, UPS, DHL, and freight booking portals.
- Previous experience in shipping, logistics, warehouse operations, or international trade preferred.
- Knowledge of shipping documentation, Incoterms, customs procedures, and carrier systems.
- Knowledge of import/export compliance regulations.
