The CDL Truck Driver will be responsible for transfer of material locally. They may also deliver items to customers. They maintain logs to track their route schedule and confirm deliveries. They will need to operate a delivery truck or van in a safe, efficient manner to deliver packages to customers within a particular area. The CDL Truck Driver may also be responsible for obtaining signatures from recipients when delivering.
Responsibilitiesand Duties
- Safely transporting various products and materials to and from specified locations in a timely manner using semi tractor and flatbed trailer.
- Assisting with the loading and offloading of staff products and materials.
- Adjusting travel routes to avoid traffic congestion or road construction.
- Promptly inform the company of any tickets issued against the company vehicle during work hours.
- Ensuring that the company vehicle is always parked in areas that permit parking to avoid towing.
- Keeping the company vehicle clean and properly maintained by performing regular washing, cleaning and vehicle maintenance.
- Providing accurate time records of the company vehicle’s coming and goings.
- Reporting any accidents, injuries, and vehicle damage to management.
- High school diploma or GED is preferred.
- Must pass Medical Certification.
- Sound knowledge of road safety regulations.
- Working knowledge of local roads and routes.
- The ability to utilize maps, GPS systems, and car manuals.
- Punctual and dependable.
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction
- Operate with high integrity, maintaining positive relations with co-workers, customers, and suppliers
- Strong work ethic; initiative-taking
- Basic computer skills
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Good organizational, problem solving, and time management skills
- Ability to measure using different tools
Physical demands can include but not limited to:
- Sitting
- Use of hands or fingers
- Kneeling/Crawling/Twisting/Balancing
- Speaking and Listening
- Close vision (sharp vision at 36 inches or less)
Weights to be lifted:
- Up to 50 pounds—With assistance and/or of a lifting device
Weights to be pushed/pulled:
- Up to 50 pounds—With assistance and/or of a lifting device
Good working conditions. Frequent visual/auditory attention and involvement required to place tags on appropriate materials. Requires continuous use of computers to receive and give information.
Exposure to hazardous machinery, sharp tools, proximity to moving objects, noise, heat, humidity.
