Position: Job Receiving Clerk

Receiving Clerk

The Receiving Clerk is responsible for verifying and keeping records on incoming shipments. Receives supplies and materials for overhaul and rewind areas; reviews purchase orders to ensure appropriate supplies and/or materials have been received. Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records. Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.

Reviews paperwork for received items; issues work order; routes to appropriate department. Operates hand truck or forklift to unload shipments from trucks.

High school diploma or GED; and six months to one years previous receiving or warehouse experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute amounts such as discounts, interest, and percent. Ability to communicate verbally in one-on-one situations with management and co-workers, including the ability to speak simple sentences;

listen to others without interrupting and get clarification when needed. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, work orders, and memos. Ability to read and understand blue prints. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions and procedures furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to perform repetitive tasks. To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to operate the software and equipment used in the department, including but not limited to Microsoft Excel and Siteline.

Ability to interact in a positive and professional manner and to develop and maintain strong working relationships with co-workers, supervisor, vendors, and customers. Strong attention to detail and focus on quality and accuracy. Exhibits dependability, including following instructions; responding to supervisor's direction; and taking responsibility for own actions. Ability to take initiative, including asking for and offering help when needed;

performs work independently without being prompted Ability to prioritize and plan work activities; use time efficiently; and work within deadlines.
