Job Summary
Under some supervision, follow established procedures and guidelines to receive, handle, store, perform system transactions and dispatch goods in a factory or warehouse. Receive incoming goods; check for damage and for discrepancies between goods and invoices. Accurately sort, label, store goods and arrange storage to optimize warehouse space. Pick, pack, and dispatch outgoing goods according to written or verbal requests or orders.
Certified to operate forklifts or other warehouse machinery.
We are looking for a talented Customer Service and Warehouse Operator to join our Distribution business in Wichita, KS.
This is 100% onsite.
Will make an impact in the following ways:
- Receive, inspect, sort, label, store, pick, pack, and ship materials accurately and efficiently.
- Operate powered industrial equipment such as forklifts, reach trucks, order pickers, and pallet riders to support warehouse operations.
- Complete inventory transactions and maintain accurate records using warehouse management systems and business software.
- Perform quality inspections on incoming and outgoing materials to identify damage, discrepancies, or non‑conforming products.
- Support customer service and parts sales activities by assisting customers, processing orders, and responding to product inquiries.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while adhering to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with warehouse, parts, operations, and customer service teams to meet business and customer expectations.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, material flow, productivity, and employee development.
In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Experience working in warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, parts, or logistics environments.
- Ability to safely operate powered industrial vehicles and warehouse equipment.
- Experience receiving, storing, picking, packing, and shipping materials.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform inventory and quality control activities.
- Ability to use warehouse systems, scanners, computer applications, and inventory management tools.
- Strong customer service and communication skills with the ability to assist internal and external customers.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and maintain accuracy in a fast‑paced environment.
- Forklift certification or the ability to obtain required certifications.
- Customer Service & Sales: Greet customers promptly, determine their needs, and assist them in finding the correct parts or accessories.
- Parts Sales: Process part orders, upsell relevant products, and handle cash or credit transactions accurately.
- Product Knowledge: Answer questions regarding part compatibility, warranties, and installation, maintaining a high level of technical and product knowledge.
- High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience.
- Required certification to operate powered industrial vehicles (reach trucks, order pickers, pallet rider, etc.) and/or other heavy machinery.
- May require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
