Assistant ecologist

A respected environmental consultancy is seeking an Ecologist to join its growing team based near Wickford. This established business delivers specialist ecological, habitat management, arboricultural and landscape services across the UK, supporting clients in development, infrastructure, conservation, energy and public sector projects. The company is known for providing practical, sustainable and client-focused solutions.

The successful Ecologist will be based close to the Wickford office and will work on a diverse range of ecological projects.

The role:
  • Undertake ecological surveys and site assessments
  • Carry out habitat and protected species surveys
  • Prepare technical reports and ecological appraisals
  • Assist with biodiversity net gain and mitigation strategies
  • Liaise with clients, stakeholders and project teams
  • Support project delivery from survey through to reporting
Requirements:
  • Experience working as an Ecologist within a consultancy or similar environment
  • Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science or a related discipline
  • Good knowledge of UK ecology, legislation and survey methodologies
  • Ability to produce accurate technical reports
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Full right to work in the UK
  • Must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the office
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
