Responsibilities
- Develop processes to ensure metallurgical integrity of cast turbine blades and vanes.
- Develop and refine process parameters that impact solidification via gating, casting parameters and various heat transfer aids.
- Develop and implement measures to ensure casting cleanliness, e.g., metal filtration, wax pattern dressing procedures and mold cleaning practices.
- Specify and evaluate, as needed, refinement in mold making (investing) procedures.
- Continuously improve processes to reduce casting scrap resulting from grain, x‑ray, fluorescent penetrant, metallographic and visual examinations of the part.
- Analyze and determine root cause of metallurgical defects utilizing non‑destructive, destructive methods and metallographic tools.
- Utilize statistical and graphical analysis techniques.
- Initiate and interface with all levels of manufacturing, management, suppliers and customers.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical, Materials, Chemical or other related Engineering discipline.
- Hands‑on experience in the airfoils investment casting industry a plus.
- Proven analytical, problem‑solving, and process improvement ability.
- Working knowledge of process control methods.
- Demonstrated ability to develop & execute action plans that will deliver results.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations and priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead programs/projects.
- Proficiency in a major, industry standard 3D CAD software package and solidification modeling a plus.
- Working knowledge of Zero‑Defect Program: PFMEA, Control Plan, Process Control.
- Six Sigma Certification a plus.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident (green card holder).
